Vaccinations- II

Today Vivek went to the doctor for his four month appointment and to get his second set of shots. One oral and three injections. Vivek did well. He cried a little bit but not too much. I was really impressed. Our boy is growing up. Vivek weighs 14 pounds and 5.4 oz.and 24 1/2 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile on weight and height and in the 75th percentile for his head. Such a big boy!
Doctor said he looks good and will be ready for solids when he is 6 months. Wow.
Vivek was himself most of the day but did get a little fussy in the evening. I just spend the day with Vivek carrying him all the time. My poor muchkin.
His next well baby checkup is in December.

Chicago Day 1

We got up by about 6:3o am. Yes... even on a holiday. Thanks to Vivek. Did I mention that he is a early riser. He wakes up between 6- 6:30 am everyday!!! We did try to sleep in but no such luck. We got dressed and headed down to the restaurant for breakfast. Had an eggcellent breakfast and set out to explore downtown Chicago. It was a glorious day. Temp were 20 degrees above normal for this part of the year. Which was great because we could get out.
We walked thru Madison Ave toward Michigan Ave. On the way we stopped at St Peter's Cathedral - a Catholic church. A very modernistic and beautiful church. We spent a few moments there, also got to talk to the priest there. At Michigan Ave we went to the Lego store. Yes... I know Vivek is too young for Legos but not his parents!!! We had a blast there and we did pick up some thing for Vivek which he will get to open when he is 2 yrs old!!! Here is a picture at the store.

Vivek did fabulous all thru our walk. He slept most of the time. We grabbed some lunch. Great choices in big cities for vegetarians. Ha.. glad we didnot have to survive on subway sandwiches. On our way back we met our friend Ashwin... he works at the Sears towers which was about 5 blocks from our hotel. We had coffee in a swanky Italian coffee shop. Vivek got to meet Ashwin. in is an old friend. I know him from my college days. We did German together. And he also lived in Toronto while we were there. Now of course he and his family are in Chicago. We will get to see them soon. After coffee we headed back to the hotel and rested for an hour since we had to go to a friends place for dinner.

We had to be ready by 6pm since our host was coming by to pick us up. We were up and ready much before. Did I mention that we were in Chicago because Raghu had a conference? And the conference begins tomorrow... Friday. The hotel we are staying in also happens to be the conference hotel because of the proximity to the De Paul Centre where conference is being held. While we were getting ready we got a call from a dear friend Josh- another mathematician. He arrived for the conference and was staying at the same hotel!!! So Raghu and Vivek headed down to the lobby to meet him. Josh got to see Vivek for the first time. Josh has a son who is about 8 month. The second gen mathematicians!!!
We spent a few minutes chatting with Josh and then left for dinner. We had a great dinner. Authentic South Indian food. Yum!!!! I miss home!!!!
We got back to the hotel pretty late by about 11 pm. Raghu needs his sleep as he has to be at the conference centre by 7 am. I am glad I don't have to be up so early!!! Well right now I am sleepy. More tomorrow.

Chicago here we come

The Raghurams headed for Chicago on Wednesday. First family vacation and Vivek's first plane ride. A lot of firsts. Excitement galore.
Our flight was out of Tulsa Airport at 5 pm. We left Stillwater at 2pm. It is a 90 min ride to the airport. We made it well in time tothe airport. Raghu got home after teaching and then we loaded the car and off we were. Vivek did really well in the car. He slept thru the ride. What a sweetheart!!!

Here is a picture of us at the Tulsa airport.

The flight to Chicago was not full so the air hostess let us sit with the car seat ... we had three seats. We reached Chicago O Hare close to 7 pm. Vivek was amazing all thru the flight. He slept!!! We took an Airport Shuttle to our Hotel downtown. We are staying at The Crowne Plaza located in Greektown. By the time we got to the hotel we were dead tired. We washed up and headed down to Greektown for dinner. We grabbed a couple of rolls and some Greek salad. Too tired to eat out in a restaurant. The rooms were comfortable and we decided to chill in front of the TV. Also a 24 hr grocery store - Dominicks was close by, we went there and picked up some fruits... just to eat healthy:)

The conference starts only on Friday so Raghu had a free day with family before work takes over. Oh Yeah... we are in Chicago because Raghu has a two day conference. Math of course.
Well sleep time... more tomorrow.

Four Months Old!

Vivek is four months old today! We just cannot believe it. Life has been one exciting ride even since Vivek made his debut.

He is very interactive now. He loves to sit up with help and look around. His world has gotten a whole lot exciting. He grabs at things and loves to stick them into his mouth. He loves to "talk" to us and we have a lot of pleasant conversations:) aah goooo... krriiii.... eehhh..

He sleeps well most of the nights, usually waking up once at least for a feed. Overall he is a happy child.

The weekend was a busy one. We spend most of it cleaning house and yard work. I made some briyani. It was absolutely lip smacking. I will post the recipe soon.

Sunday - Funday.

Raghu left this morning to Michigan. He is back on Tuesday. He left at 8 am. And about 11 am a friend dropped by to spend the day with me and Vivek. It was so good to see L. She had visited us in the hospital the day after Vivek was born and had not seen him after that. We had a good visit. It is always a pleasure to see good friends.
I made some Indian sweet( kesari baath) and had some Indian snacks to keep us fortified.
After L left Vivek and I had a nap. Then it was bath time for Vivek. He loves having a bath. He is so relaxed and peaceful while having the bath. Once you get him out of the tub he starts to cry. He just doesn't like for his bath time to end. Giving Vivek a bath is Dad's job. It is father and son bonding time. Since dad is away mum had to step in. It was fun to play with Vivek in the water. I am looking forward to swimming already.

Blues Friday

It has been a very busy Friday for us. Normally it is not this way at all. We met a friend for coffee. Spent an hr catching up with her. She is so busy this semester with her teaching and related activities that it has been so difficult to get together. We came home after coffee. Vivek took a nap and then we headed to Purnima's house for Haldi kumkum. Today happens to be Gowri puja so a few ladies here had Haldi kumkum at their place. I decided to go and pay a visit along with Vivek since dad was still at work and had a busy day. Vivek did well for the most part but then got a little cranky since all this socialising was eating into his nap time. We had to cut our visit short and head back home. After a nice nap and dinner we decided to check out the Stillwater Blues festival. It is an annual festival and this is the 10th year. We were unable to attend the festival last year. We spent more than hour at the outdoor festival listening to some good music. Vivek was so good. The loud music didnot seem to bother him. I think he is going to be a rock star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a cold nite so we had to bundle up our little bundle of joy. Oh it is fall.
We headed home by 9pm late by standards! Yes, standards change once you have a baby:)Once we got home Vivek had no trouble sleeping. Such a sweet boy. All of us were exhausted.

Oh Yeah, I made some fabulous besan ladoo on the eve of Ganesh Chathurthi. Unfortunately I didnot take a picture

Three Month Old!

Vivek is 3 months old today! He is growing up fast. It feels like he just arrived yesterday. My little boy is growing!!! Vivek is interacting a lot now. He is enjoying his surroundings, likes to look around and wants to be involved. He is enjoying his tummy time a lot more now. His head and neck are surely getting stronger. Overall he is a good baby.
To celebrate Vivek's 3 months mum and son went shopping. Not that mum needs a reason to shop!!! We had a shopping marathon. We went to Old Navy to buy some baby shower gift but I ended up buying something for Vivek. It is so difficult not to buy, the clothes for babies are so darn cute. Also I got to try some clothes on. Yahoo!!! Vivek was a good boy. We then headed to Linen 'n' Things. That is when he got a little cranky. Our next stop was to buy some groceries. He slept thru the drive and most part of the grocery shopping.

Happy 3 month Vivek. We love you.

P.S. Just could not get him to sit still for a shot. He is so fascinated with his hands. He stuff both his fists into his mouth!!!

Photo Shoot

We had our first baby photo shoot today. Our appointment was at 10 am. We got there a few minutes before. The studio is located in the country. A great place for outdoor shots. A 10 min drive from our place.
The photographer has a really neat place. We got there and changed Vivek into his photo clothes. He was all bright and cheerful. Lucky for us he had a nice little nap before his shoot, so he was in his best mood. The photographer was getting the set ready while his wife was getting Vivek ready. Oh my.. . she was so good with him, made him smile and giggle. He was in his element. We did get some great shots. After the session we had to choose the best ones, that was the most difficult part.
We had a good time. Dropped dad off to work and then grabbed some falafels for lunch.

Vivek meets Sudhir

A little bit of history... Sudhir and Raghu are from IIT Kanpur. Both played on the basketball team and became good friends. I met Sudhir while he was doing his Phd in Mumbai. He is a dear friend.
Right now he is in Bonn with his family. He happened to be in Chicago for a conference and had an extra day. He decided to put it to good use by flying down to Okalhoma to visit the Raghurams.

It was soooooo good to see him. He and Vivek became good friends. Vivek was so taken by every word of Sudhir's. Ever since he has begun to smile and interact it is fun to talk to Vivek. It is as if he understands every thing that you say.

We had a great visit. Sudhir made breakfast the next day. Scrambled eggs and toast. And Raghu whipped up his delicious smoothie. After breakfast we drove down to Tulsa airport to drop Sudhir off. It was a short but great visit. We hope to see the Sharma's in Germany in the summer of 2008. Can't wait!!!

Vaccinations

Vivek got his first set of vaccinations yesterday. He got four vaccinations . 3 shots and one oral. He did well. He hardly cried. Brave boy! Mum had a tough time though. Dad was there to take care and make sure all wemt well. We also had a weight check. Vivek is officially 11 pounds and 5.2 oz. Yahoo!!!!
He has grown taller too. He is growing and doing well. Which a good thing to know.
After we got back from the clinic Vivek was a little down. He was not running any temperature but was a little cranky. All he needed was lots and lots of TLC.
Later in the nite he did have a temp. 100.4 F. Dad gave him some baby Tylenol and that gave him some relief and he slept well. This morning he is back to his cheerful self and has been smiling and playing a lot.
Our next well baby checkup is Oct 9th.

Two month old!

Vivek turned 2 months old today! I just cannot believe it. It just feels like yesterday when I found out I was pregnant.
Dad is out of town on a conference and Vivek and I are trying to entertain ourselves. He was a good boy today. Mum even managed to get some exercise done. Yahoo!!!

Vivek is really starting to smile a lot. Carries his own conversation. He is eating well, sleeping well and being a good boy overall. We are so blessed. Our next well baby check up is on Aug 13th. Hopefully Vivek has gained some weight.
Happy 2 months Vivek!!! We love you.

Vivek and friends

Today we some visitors for Vivek. Who else!!! Rishabh and Ritwik came to meet their new friend. Ashwini - the mom had come to the hospital to meet Vivek but didnot get the kids then. So finally they got a chance to meet Vivek along with their dad Subbu. Oh it was such fun to see the boys with the little baby. They are such well behaved boys. Rishabh who will be 6 in a few weeks was very enthusiastic to hold the baby. He wanted to know why they are so tiny and cannot be held by him. We had a good visit.

It's a...

Boy!!! We welcomed Vivek into our lives on May 31st, 2007 after about 12 hrs of labor. The due date was May 28th. At my last doctor's appointment on May 24th I had dilated just 2 cm and we decided that on June 4th we will induce if the baby was out by then. I was not too happy about the decision to induce. But hey, we did not want to wait after a week past the due date.
I woke up on Wednesday May 30th feeling uncomfortable. I have been having pains on and off, nothing on a regular basis. As the day progressed I began feeling more and more uncomfortable. When Raghu got home in the evening, he saw me looking so pale and in pain. After dinner we decided to go for a walk by the lake, hoping that it would make me feel better. Heck no!!! I could not walk for long with out sitting down. I got back home and called the Hospital. The nurse told me to rest for a while since I had just got back from a walk. She told me to lie on my left side and call back after an hour if the pains still persisted. I lay down but felt no relief. After close to an hour I called the nurse again and told her that I was in pain and I think I am having contraction. This time when we timed it it was about 5 mins apart. I told her I wanted to come to the hospital and was prepared to come back home. After I hung up Raghu started to load the car. Yes, my bags were packed and ready. We left my father - in law at home and drove to the hospital. The time was about 9:30 pm.I was in pain and trying to time my contractions. The hospital - Stillwater Medical Centre is about a 10 min drive from our home. We got to the hospital and the went up to the Emergency Entrance . A nurse there helped to a wheel chair and got me on the elevator to the Labour and Delivery. By then my pain had subsided. The nurse at Labor and Delivery took me to a room for observation. She checked me and said that I had dilated about 4 cms and said she would keep me under observation for an hour or so before admitting me in. So our stuff was still in the car. I just lay there and started to make calls to my family back in India to tell them that I am in the hospital.
Oh yeah... my contractions come back and they hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By now my contraction are about 10 mins apart but very intense. So here I am talking to my brother in India and telling him I am in labor. He just didnot believe me. He was so shocked.. U say you are in labor???? You do not sound like you are in pain. That was funny!!!At about 11:30pm the nurse comes back to check on me and finds out that I have dilated about 6 cms. She said, oh well you are not going home now and I will call your doctor after I admit you in. What a relief. Didnot have to go home. We were in labor thru the night and my doctor- Dr Henry came in at about 5 am and the delivered Vivek at 6:52 am on May 31st.
A prefect boy. He weighed 7lbs and 7oz and looked so adorable. It was such a magical experience. I have no words to describe the whole process. I feel so blessed and lucky to have such a wonderful baby and a loving family.
Welcome Vivek Raghuram.!!!

Theatre Nite

We went for a musical last night - Thursday. A funny thing happened on the way to the forum - a production of the OSU theatre Dept. This is set in Rome in 1 AD. I liked the sets and the costumes. The musical was fun. Some actors performed really well. Overall it was a good play. Nothing extraordinary, nothing cerebral. Plain fun.
Sometimes that is all one needs ... plain fun.
Before the play we ate at Joseppi's. An Italian restaurant here in Stillwater. It is a Stillwater landmark. Great food but limited vegetarian options. I satisfied my cravings for Lasagna and Raghu had bow tied pasta with grilled vegetables.
Overall an enjoyable evening!!!

Child Care Class

We had a new born care class last night. We learnt how to swaddle the baby or burrito wrap the baby. I will not be eating burritos for a long long time. How to give a sponge bath and various other important issues. The nurse conducting the class said that the first bath will take atleast 2 hrs and four adults!!! Now I am looking forward to that:) Raghu found that really amusing. Let's see how amused he is when we have to bathe the baby.
It was an interesting class and we did learn a lot. We also got to watch a video. It is always fun to chat with other expectant mothers.
Yesterday was a gorgeous day. Another beautiful Oklahoma day. I did spend a few hours outdoors. Went to a smoothie bar and had a veggie monster. A mix of green onions, carrot, red cabbage and much more.
Today has been dull and grey. We are expecting some storms to move in later.
I did get my one hour of walking done and the day has been very frutiful.
My father -in-law will be here on Saturday. We are thrilled and are looking forward to his visit.

Baby Shower for Baby Raghuram

Last evening I had a Baby Shower. I still find it hard to believe. It was a great party. Thank you Leticia for doing this for me. The food was awesome. What a spread she put up. And the folks were really generous with the gifts. Raghu and I had a great time. So did the baby!!!

Here is one with Anahita. She turned one in February 07. Her dad is also a mathematician just like our baby's dad!!! She is a really beautiful baby.

Thank you all once again.

Wet and Cold

It has been raining like crazy here.Thunderstorms and some really small sized hail. No major damage like in Dallas. We did loose power in the night. Did not bother us though since we were asleep. Then how did I know you ask? Well, I got up to go to the toilet. Yes, It happens more frequently these days. I have lost count. When we woke up in the morning the power was back on. It has been gloomy all Friday long. But I guess the farmers need the rain. So does our yard. Hopefully the weather will improve in the coming days and one can get to spend time outdoors.

My niece who will be three this May got her ears pierced. She cried of course. Poor thing. Her dad (my little brother) cried too. That is what he said!!! She looks cuter than ever. After all the drama she wanted to give the jeweller a piece of her mind for causing her so much pain!!! Now she just can't stop looking at her self in the mirror and admiring her beautiful self.

Niki I miss you and love you!!!

34 weeks

I had a checkup today. Now I get to see the doctor every two weeks. Another 6 more weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a routine checkup. Heard the heart beat also got to feel the legs of the baby. Amazing. Every day is a beautiful day. I cannot find words to describe this beautiful feeling. All looks and feels good. I like it that way. I do feel a bit more tired than usual which I guess is normal.
I broke a cardinal rule on Sunday. Easter Sunday. I do not deep fry at home. I just do not. Don't ask why. But on Sunday I crumbled under pressure:) I made puris. God... why are deep fried foods so delicious??? Tell me why? Made chole to go with the puris.Prefect Sunday meal. Yum!!! I guess I will relish these as long as I can.

Jazz Concert

We had the pleasure of listening to a Jazz master on Friday in concert. Slide Hampton, a world class trombone player, composer, arranger ... jazz musician par excellence. It was an amazing evening. A wonderful experience to listen to some live jazz. He played along with some wonderful Jazz ensembles. A talented lot of musicians from OSU. The concert was held at the Seretean Concert Hall. It was packed. Didnot know that Stillwater had such a large jazz following.
Two hrs of fabulous jazz. Got to listen to some standards like Walkin', When the Lights are Low, Cherokee, Blue'n' Boogie, Stardust and Lover come back to me.
What a way to spend the Friday nite. After the concert there was a small reception. German chocolate cake and fruit punch. Oooh lala.
If you like to listen to jazz all day/night all you need to do is log on to www.kcck.org
An amazing team of people work hard to bring some world class jazz and blues. Yes, this is the same station that I had the pleasure of being associated with in Iowa. They are the only full time jazz station in the mid west. Three Cheers to the folks at KCCK. I miss them all.

Spring Break

Spring break is over. We had a very fruitful break to say the least. Yep!!! The crib is assembled. It wasn't so bad putting it together. Raghu did all of it. Need I say that!!! I provided the required moral support and comic relief when needed:)
Monday and Tuesday Raghu was in OKC for a workshop. Tuesday night we had our childbirth class. Saturday we had Anu and Ajay over for dinner. Over all a very well spent break.

Oh yeah we bought this Ultimate James Bond DVD collection- all 20 Bond flicks. We spent some evenings watching the Bond movies and sipping margaritas... well not really.
The weather is beautiful. Sun is out and spring is definitely in the air.

Childbirth Class III

Today was the last installment of the Childbirth Classes we have been attending. Today was all about C-section. Why one gets a C-section and when is it absolutely necessary and all related stuff. Very educative.
I am hoping and praying for a vaginal birth. Finally it is up to the baby and what the doctor decides.
It was a short class. We had an over load of information.
As mentioned before we are ready to be taken over by the baby.
There are optional classes that are being offered. I intend to go for the breathing class which is Wednesday March 28, conflicts with my book club meeting. I decided to give my book club a pass and attend the breathing class instead.

Dinner at our place

Saturday we had a few of Raghu's colleagues for dinner. We have been wanting to have them over for quite some time now. A total Indian fare. All of them love Indian food. And do occasionally cook Indian khana.
There is a India grocery store here in Stillwater run by a Malayalee..who else!!! He has some really authentic South Indian stuff. Frozen puttu and kadala, aviyal, pal appams, varieties of parathas and much much more.
We do most of our shopping there. No need to drive to Oklahoma City any more. We bought some Indian snacks and naan for the dinner.
The guests started to arrive at about 6 pm. We also had some beer and wine to go with food. Yes.. we had non alcoholic drinks- orange and apple juice.
We started with Dhokla and coconut chutney. We also had store bought khakras. Jeera flavour. Really yum!!!
The main course : Mango rice(by popular demand) with raita made of cucumber and dill.Peas Pulao, dal tadka, brinjal curry, chole with naan. Fresh salad. Food got demolished. Hardly any left overs. I am pleased with myself.Yeah I know I am bragging:) I don't miss an opportunity do I!!!
For dessert we had rasmalai(made with ricotta cheese and milk) and fruit salad with ice cream.
All in all a great evening. We got to bed by 11 pm. Tired but great evening!!!
Sunday we drove to Oklahoma City. Spent a few hours shopping at Super Target. And then headed to the OSU campus in Oklahoma City. Raghu had a workshop to attend. I took a book along to read and spent time in the campus. Had a good picnic. The weather was prefect. Drove back to Stillwater just in time to make it for dinner at Ashwini's place. Grilled corn and assortment of veggies with chips and salsa.
Dinner was a typical South Indian fare. Subbu made this fabulous Jackfruit hulli. Man.. touched the spot for the pregnant lady. He refuses to share his secret recipe. Had a great evening!!!
The week has been busy with meeting friends and enjoying good food. Love it.

Crib

After much thought and debate we decided to order the crib online. I am not much of a online shopper. Yes I sound like I live in the medieval times. I know. I prefer to touch and feel and know what I am getting. The only things I order online are books and CDs. Anyways... we went ahead and ordered a crib. It should be here soon. Just in time for the spring break... one of many activities Raghu is planning to accomplish.

And my father-in-law got his visa. And he will be here end of April. We are so excited to have him visit us. He is going to be a great help when the baby is around. We are slowly getting the guest bedroom ready for his visit. He will be here for a whole three months. Oh Appa we are so thrilled that you are finally able to visit us.

Child birth class II

Today we had our part 2 of the Child birth class series. It is a 3 part class. It was helpful and nerve racking. We were inundates with tons of information and got to watch a video. This time on epidural. WOWO!!! I pray and hope all goes well. Keep your fingers crossed.
The classes are helpful no doubt but scary too.
Before that we had an pre natal pediatric appointment. We met with Dr Wright. He seemed like a nice doctor. Very straight forward and knew his facts. He will be a good doctor for our baby. We spent an hour with him. I had a list of question .... of course!!! It was reassuring talking to the pediatrician. I think we are ready to welcome the baby, but scared about being parents for the rest of our lives!!!
We headed to Panera's for a light dinner before our Child birth class. I love the panini sandwiches they have.
The child birth class lasted about an hour. We headed home after that. Our next class is on Tuesday March 20.

30 weeks

I am 30 weeks now. Wow.. which means another 10 more to go. We had a doctor's appointment today. We also got an ultrasound done. Amazing to see a 30 weeks ultrasound. My first indeed!!!What technology can do!!! Baby is looking and doing good. And the appointment was routine. Just the way I like it. Check blood pressure, weight and related measurements. Everything looks on track.
We now had appointments every two weeks... which means... we are closer. My next appointment is March 26 just after spring break.
My friends back in Iowa were planning to throw me a baby shower(I still cannot believe that) during the weekend March 23-25. The plan was for the two of us to drive down Thursday and drive back to Stillwater on Sunday just in time for Raghu to get back to work after spring break. The spring break for OSU begins March 17 thru March 25. After this appointment we decided against undertaking that 9+ hr drive. I am feeling a little more tired these days.
Love my dear friends back in Iowa City. Miss them. But I know their good wishes are with me. Thank you for thinking of me.

Great weekend

The weekend was fabulous. The weather was just great to be outdoors and entertaining. We happened to be at Lowes' on Friday night and saw this nice outdoor set. Simple and nice. Something we have been looking for. Just in time for our guests on Saturday afternoon.
Very easy to set up.
Saturday we had some friends over for lunch. All from Bangalore(the city we come from back in India) and of course Kannada speaking( the language we speak). Ashwini and Subbu have two sons aged 6( Rishabh) and 2(Ritwik).The boys are so well behaved. I was so amazed. Need to talk to Ashwini about parenting tips!!! Deepak and Shubha are also expecting their first baby in May. She is due two weeks before I am. Nice to have a pregnant buddy.
We had a great time. Sat outdoors with kids enjoying their time in the back yard. The kids inaugurated their new bikes
I had cooked a south Indian fare. Yes I cook!!!

Made mango rice, rajma, vegetable stew, naan, raita and fresh salad. Dessert was rasmalai which Ashwin made and choice of 3 different ice creams. All had a great time. After that hearty lunch the next best thing was a siesta! Which we indulged in of course. At about 5 pm we headed out to Boomer lake for a nice walk by the lake. I walked while Raghu ran. Also got to catch up with my good friend Julie in Iowa.

Happy Birthday...

Thanks to all of you for the good wishes and for remembering. It was a special one!!! I got to speak to my cute little niece .. oh that was precious. Now that she can talk and we can have a conversation.Real conversations.Yes, I can talk to 3 yr olds.
I spend the day shopping and just enjoying the warm beautiful weather. Raghu had to get to work since he had to teach. We had out first Childbirth class in the evening. We had decided to go for desserts after the class. Well... little did we know what we were in store for.
The class was packed. They were about 20 couples. All expecting babies in the months April and May. And most of them expecting boys!!! How interesting is that.
The class began with some basic hospital procedures and then we watched a video of childbirth. A vaginal delivery. Class lasted for about an hour and a half. After watching all that there was no appetite for cheese cake or chocolate cake. We just drove home:) I had made kesari baath...( A Indian sweet dish made of cream of wheat) since I was craving for it.
All in all a peaceful and nice day. Just the way I like it to be.

Happy Holi!

May the festival of colours add many more colors in all our lives. We had a Indian get together here in Stillwater. It was our first. Met a lot of folks. The main draw being FOOD!!! Yum Indian stuff. The spread was awesome. Catered from a restaurant in Oklahoma City. Samosas, bondas with sweet and green chutney, Naan, Mutter Paneer, Aloo Gobi, Maa ki Daal, Malai Kofta, Pulao, Raita and of course dessert. Gajar ka Halwa, Gulab Jamun and Chocolates.
I had an excuse to eat, not that I need one now:) Also got a chance to dress up in traditional attire. God I do look very so pregnant. Sari does a good job of covering the big belly.
Also we ventured to do some baby shopping earlier in the day. Oh my GOD!!! I am totally confused and overwhelmed:) We spend the day at Babies R Us in Oklahoma City. The drive is about an hour long. We short listed on the type of stroller/car seat that we want and also looked at various cribs. Not an easy decision to make. There will be many more trips to that store in the next 10 weeks.

Hope 2007 is exciting, peaceful and healthful.
I decided to start a blog thanks to a lot of prodding from family and friends.
